RE: [Digital BW] Unbelievable advertising from Epson

2006-12-20 by Robert Rock

There is almost always small print when a claim like this is made.usually
stating that print must be placed under glass, out of direct light, etc.And
all they really said is that the paper gives "unsurpassed archival
longevity", which only means better than any other paper at the time it was
written, which may or may not be true. However, again it's all in the small
print. Usually there is something that covers their ass.

We sue companies that make outrageous claims like that. When I was at the
U.S. Federal Trade Commission I would have loved to nail Epson on that
claim. The U.S. is often accused of having too many lawyers, but that's
often by the companies that would rather compete via false advertising than
on the basis of price and quality. Write to newspapers and government
agencies and educate the people.

Wasn't that claim used in the past in the US and dropped later
on as results showed the paper changed color ?
Could be that Epson counts on the fact that in NZ time runs
slower :-)
