Hi Clayton, Thanks for your efforts. It's certainly an interesting set of scans. I do find it surprising that the 2200 and 3800 look so different. The dot patterns for the 3800 at 5% show very strange dot doublets. I wonder why that is? I guess if the issue is: does "Black" look different on the 2200 and 3800, you've shown that they do look different. But I think there are probably a number of contributing factors. You don't specify what DPI was used for each of the prints. Are they 1440 or 2880? Are they all the same? The different papers, matte vs photo, and different inks may contribute as well. Epson has made a big deal of redoing their dither screening -- the brochure even has hi-res scans. I suspect this is the most likely reason for a different "look". So while I can see your point, I think it's impossible to look at a scan and tell which jet the ink drops are coming from if all the drops have the same color. I've done "Print to File" with both the 3800 and 4800 drivers using "Black". The data shows only K ink commands so I can only conclude that is is Black Only.
