I have three R200 printers, and they all don't do well with fine art papers, so I think this is characteristic of the beast. I suspect the R220 isn't going to be any better. The problem is with feeding the paper -- if you can manually coax the paper into the printer, it will print 190 - 300 gsm papers without smearing. The print driver actually has a setting for thicker papers/envelopes that changes the distance between the print head and the paper, but this won't help with the funky paper feed. My R200s often misfeed even supported papers like Epson Enhanced Matte and plain bond. I am satisfied with the print quality -- I have an R200 dedicated to B&W and have used MIS UT-FSN and UT-R2. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "paulsbaxter" <paulsbaxter@...> wrote: > > I have an Epson R220 that I will be converting to B&W using MIS inks. > Can anyone tell me if this printer can use the thicker fine art > papers, or am I limited to the more traditional ink jet papers? > > Thanks, > Paul S.
