2400 wow

2007-01-01 by Christopher L. Johnston

Although I have had my new 2400 for a few weeks now I have had little chance
to do much with it. What I did find interesting is that out of the box it
did a better job in B & W then color operator error not the printer, I was
used to a work flow with my 2200 and was confused to begin with, with the
2400. Today I started to experiment with Hahnemuhle's 320gm photo rag and
Epson's ultra smooth fine art papers; my mind has been well and truly blown.
Although I can see that the fine tuning process will take a fair bit of ink
and paper the prospect of improving on my first efforts is making me shake.
There have been some postings by newcomers in the last few weeks and I guess
that this is directed to them more then the veterans. The 2400 is simply the
best printer I have ever had, period. Maybe a 2200 with a RIP and an inkjet
would be a better B&W printer but it wouldn't also do a great job on color
which I have now managed to get the 2400 to do. Nor with the 2200/RIP/Inkset
be essentially idiot proof. So if you are new at this and are looking to
get a grown up printer at a budget price the 2400 smokes.
