Re: [Digital BW] Printer for 11x14

Scott..

For me the answer has been a NEW 1280 Epson along with re-filling/re-setting MIS SPONGELESS CARTS with MIS UT-2 inks purchased in 4 oz (ECONOMICAL!) bottles for each of the 6 chambers....Personally I feel the results are stunning..You can use Paul Roark's workflow (FREE!) or Harrington's QTR (about $50.. and WORTH IT!)..

I had some cartridge problems early on , but those carts were replaced by MIS..Occasionally I do get a "clog", but it usually clears up with a few cleaning cycles..About every 6 months I need to clean the heads and the parking pad with some Windex, and that's about it!..BTW, I've been on this system for about 18 months.....I also have another 1280 set up for color, and I'm using the same type of carts/refill/re-set from MIS, but with LYSON Fotonic color inks..

If you intend to print glossy/semi gloss on this 1280, you will need to remove the "pizza wheels" fromm the printer to prevent any scarring they may cause to the print surface..Easier to do than explain!

Check out MIS's website..I think you will find more answers there than I can give you here..

  Hi,

I have been using an Epson C86 with the MIS EZ inksets and have been
quite happy with the results. I'd like to step up to a printer that
will allow me to make 11x14s (or slightly larger). From what I
understand the prime candidates for an inexpensive way to do this
would be an older used Epson 2000P or a new 1280. Any thougths on how
to do this inexpensively (read no 2400), with the least amout of clogging
and good quality would be greatly appreciated.

  Scott
