I have recently started with BowHaus too. I am using PiezoTone Selenium ink in a Epson 1290. It´s a bit frustrating too make profiles from scratch when you don´t have any training or the right tools to do it the easy way. I don't have a densitometer and I only have a cheap document scanner to make density readings. The CanoScan software did funny things with the greyscales and I had to get VueScan to get usable readings for linearization. The clue as I understand it, is to manipulate the ink curves so the corrections in the linearization process are as small as possible. This takes a lot of trial and error, especially if the default curves for the quad inks don´t work for you and you have to go for free edit curves. You have unlimited control and it´s a learning curve ;-) Yesterday I finally got usable profiles for Photo Rag and EEM. Not perfect. These papers take ink differently and this is the first time I experience that the print really changes (for the better) after drying. It was not like that when I used the Epson printerdriver. I have loaded two chambers in the color cart with Middle grey and two chambers with Light grey to extend the time between the need to refill the cart. The chambers/slots pair use the same ink curve, but only half of the ink limit each. If you have better ways of fine tuning curves than me I would be happy to share my profiles with you - and others in need. I have limited experience making/correcting curves and I hope more experienced users of Bowhaus and monochrome inksets will jump in here and share their way of thinking and workflow when making curves from scratch. The user manuals are a bit lacking in these matters. For me manipulating ink curves is a bit like black (ink) magic. If you have simple questions I will answer them the best I can from my experience.
