RE: [Digital BW] me and my 3800 woes...

CD, It must be too late in the evening. I believe you have previously
mentioned the thickness of the media is critical for alignment samples…..

Ian, alignment requires the correct paper. You are using Epson paper,
right? If not, you need to do custom paper setup, which I suggest not
attempting until you have more experience with the procedures.

I tried to find a section in the book and online guides (printer and LFP
remote panel) that might help you out. The information is so widely
scattered, that it is not possible to point you to a particular area.
Unfortunately, you need to immerse yourself into all of it, and then
experiment. You could go through $100s of dollars of materials using a
disorganized approach, and still not know what’s happening. Maybe checkout
a local camera club?
That being said, you should be able to align the 3800 with the supplied
luster paper (the bag that says “for use with auto head alignment during
printer installation), and make fantastic prints on luster right away, so I’
m not sure what went wrong. Keep at it; you will get there.

Best regards,
John Moody

At times its hard to analyze nozzle checks unless they are on a glossy
paper,
and you use a loop... it also makes it easier to distinguish between
alignment samples. So yes, it hurts, but yes, its the right way to do it.

Nope, but media is not really the issue with the alignment utility, so I'd
ignore it...
