Paul:
I keep printing alignment pages until all the boxes are as good as
they are going to get. I skip the alignment for high speed printing as
I don't use this mode for proofs or finished prints.

Re cleaning cycles: I use the SSC utility, available here:

Don't be put off by the occasional errors in grammar. It has a lot of
handy functions (like resetting the waste counter), and the "powerful
cleaning" selection has worked well on my C86 and R200 printers.
