Most likely you have a yellow ink starvation problem (as you 
probably have guessed because the banding is only in the yellow and 
thus not a paper advance/stepping motor problem).  The nozzle check 
doesn't use much ink, so starvation problems don't show up unless 
they are significant.  Starvation problems are usually caused by a 
partial clog in the printhead or an air leak or some other problem 
with the cart.  

To conserve your other inks, you can create a 100% yellow test image 
and print it to see if the banding changes during printing (ie, gets 
worse with longer printing time or not).

The other thing to try is to change out the yellow cart.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
