Re: banding with R220 using Eboni MIS ink for BO printing

2007-01-26 by paulmwhiting

Hello Philip, no, I didn't recall seeing those prompts either.

Earlier, I posted a message which somehow didn't appear... it was a
couple of hours before yours so I don't what happened.. I'll repeat it
here.

I did run the alignment utilities a few more times after my last post,
and the cyan portion of the nozzle check went from not quite perfect
to perfect. So far so good.. except for the black: there was nothing
showing in the black portion. Then when I looked at the ink capacity
utility, the black part showed me at less than 20% and I got a popup
suggesting I order and install a new cart. Since I'm doing refills
instead I got out my MIS Eboni ink and tools and proceded with the
refill according to the manual. (It's an MIS spongeless and I've
refilled it twice before, using the chip resetter they sell.) When I
pressed the ink button to get the cartridge holder to move so the
empty cart would stop under the arrow, the holder moved only about a
half inch to the left and stopped. The manual said once the procedure
is started have to follow it through completion but I couldn't do
that. I had to close the lid. Now what... for one thing, I've used
cartridges with less than 10% before they quit and the cartridge
holder moved to where it was supposed to. I'm wondering why I get no
black at all with 20% remaining, that seems odd. And secondly, how do
I refill it when the holder doesn't move to where it's supposed to.
Perhaps I should just ignore all that and refill it regardless. Maybe
I'm too much a slave to the procedure!

Thank you,

Paul
