Paul: I'd say keep pressing the ink button until the print head moves to the correct position. If it still doesn't, I'd try powering off the printer, disconnecting the power cord for a several seconds, reconnecting, power up, and try again. Don't expect the ink monitor to be too accurate. I try to refill and reset the chip when I still have a few milliliters left in the cartridge. Another trick: if the head is not parked, I think you will be able to manually move the head if you unplug the printer (*don't* use the power button to power off). Re alignment: I see onscreen prompts that tell me I can skip some tests that only pertain to high-speed printing.
