I have a C86 with UT-FSN, and R200s with both UT-R2 and UT-FSN. Except for a slight difference in image tone, prints made on both printers are virtually identical. The C86 is capable of astonishing print quality given the price (I paid $50), and it handles thicker papers MUCH better than the R200. Under a loupe, some images printed on the R200 may appear a tiny bit smoother in some areas. The converse is that some images printed on the C86 may appear a bit sharper. For the majority of images I have printed you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Robert Lee" <l33ry@...> wrote: > > Correct me if I'm wrong, but, just for the sake of accuracy, the > respective MIS UT inksets for these two printer families use, I > believe, 3 shades in 6 cartridges (R220-family) vs 2 shades in 4 > cartridges (C8x). > > Another thing to consider about the C8x alternative, and again please > correct me if I'm wrong, is the consensus that the C8x and MIS ink > combo is better on glossy papers, while the R220-family MIS combo is > better on matte papers. > > Bob L > >
