John,
I have know way of measuring the Dmax, but my eye tells me it is
going higher than other matt papers and particlulary, Epson Enhanced
matt. I also see a noticeable increase in sharpness and detail when
I print the aame image in Lightroom, the only change being the
profile to match the paper. In the case of the Harman Matt FB mp I
am prsently using the profile posted on Harman's web site.
I am a bit puzzled by the previous post on the hisory Ilford Ink jet
papers. Oji did acqure the inkjet paper business from Ciba. However
the management group who bought out Ilford's B&W film and paper
business is maketing this paper. The reason the are using the Harman
name is they have no rights to the Ilford name for inkjet papers.
Oji/Ilford Inkjet may be developing their own Baryta based paper, but
my guess is that the paper I am using is a Harmon Technologies
development because Harman is still in the siver print paper business
and Baryta coating was developed in the 60's for high quality silver
paper. In fact the data sheet accompanying the paper makes this
point. Ilford's continued support for B&W is all the more reason why
I am so pleased to be able to buy from them.
Finally the paper is avaiable. My local pro dealer had a rack of
introductory packages, 5 sheets for $4.99 in 8 1/2x11. The full box
price for 15 sheets will be $29.95.
I think this paper is finally going to force me to spring for
PrintFixPro. Maybe then I can give you some accurate measure of Dmax.
