Hi Peter, See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Dot_Structure.pdf The 1600 dpi scan there was of an ABW mode print on Photo Rag. The ABW was set to "neutral." Small sections of the 5% and 10% patches of a 21-step test strip are shown in the scan. I'm just wondering if Epson is moving to a B&W mode that uses less color ink. Ideally, I think the ABW mode and RGB modes should be the same, and both should, in my view, use the absolute minimum of color ink needed to achieve the tone that is called for. The current k3 drivers don't do that. It's my hope that they evolve in that direction, however. So, I'm wondering if in the 3800 there is any indication of such movement.
