Ok, sorry now I know who you mean by Michael Kenna. I have never been able to keep people's names in my head well. Remember the faces if I met them, or the work, as in this case, but the original post didn't give me a context and I got confused as to whether it was someone on the list. Now some of you seem to be suggesting that David Burdeny has just ripped off the work of others. Your only evidence for this seems to be that others have done similar work previously. And you make no mention of his 'The Drift' series which use a very different approach. If similarity of work to some done earlier is evidence of theft, then the first quoted Michael Kenna could also be accused, since his work comes after Sugimoto's, whose work comes after Wynn Bullock, etc. Personally I'd be a bit more cautious and want more evidence before making such a claim. I think the reality is that there are forces at work that can draw independent work to a similar look. Shoot with a Blad or crop to a square for aesthetic reasons, use long exposure and BW are going to lead you to a similarity of look. Cheers, Wayne Wayne J.
