I agree with the assessment of the Arches paper. Although I was able to get 1.6 out of a test strip, the last 5% is blotchy. I do not think it's an appropriate paper for most people and most situations. Papers tested in order of personal preference and d_max (measured with Printfix Pro 2.1): 1. Hahnemule Photo Rag (HPR) 188gsm A4 - D-max = 1.72 2. PremierArt Hot Press 205g (12mils) 8.5" x 11" - D-max = 1.64 3. Arches Hot Press Bright White 20" x 30" cut to A4 - D-max = 1.56 Notes: HPR and PA are very similar in tone (off-white) and both print very smooth, slightly warm prints. (I prefer warm vs cool) Arches HP is a much warmer/yellower paper with a significantly weaker D- max that I find unacceptable for my work.
