I'm using the transparencies to make photopolymer plates for intaglio printing on an etching press. There needs to be "grain" in the image, which will equate to "bite" on the plate, which holds the ink in the recesses of the plate. At higher resolutions you loose the grain and can't create a good plate for printing. Another option may be to add "film grain" to the image before, but I'm trying to keep it simple, if you can believe that! Best, David.
