I own a 1800f...and have found Vuescan the best software IMHO.  I do 2
things to get optimum...16 bit input and output...and I use the
multisampling  to reduce the noise.  

I favor vuescan due to its great support of lots and lots of scanners,
power, and very low price in relation to how well Ed Hamrick supports
it.  Vuescan will let you do what you ask fairly easily.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
