Before buying this printer I made many inquries about the Roland and was very impressed with what the Roland could do. However, one thing I heard from several sources turned me to the Epson. The Roland (and many other printers) use the Epson print heads, just with their own software. When Epson came out with their unique encapsulated pigmented inks these inks were not shared with the many other printers they make components for. This was when I bought my 9500. Of course, now Epson has a much faster 10,000 model...always something newer and better.
