I have an Epson 9500 and love the output.  Before
buying this printer I made many inquries about the
Roland and was very impressed with what the Roland
could do.  However, one thing I heard from several
sources turned me to the Epson. The Roland (and many
other printers) use the Epson print heads, just with
their own software.  When Epson came out with their
unique encapsulated pigmented inks these inks were not
shared with the many other printers they make
components for.  This was when I bought my 9500.  Of
course, now Epson has a much faster 10,000
model...always something newer and better.
