Eric. I think you would have to ask Roy Harrington about this. It is my understanding from previous threads concerning questions similar to yours, that the droplet size is related to the tonal distribution. That means --the darker the tone ,the bigger the drop used. Within the RIP, whether QTR or the regular Epson drivers, the size changes somewhere in the crossover points between darker and lighter inks. The RIPS are a black box in that respect. Personally I too would like to have the option to fix the droplet size at it's smallest just for the sake of experimentation but it will take interest from a lot more people before that might occur. There is good reason for things being the way they are now so there is little to drive such a change. It is not that it isn't possible to do. Having said this--have you tried limiting your inks severely in QTR? If not, try reducing the limit for all and reprinting. Do this and each time look at the drop size until you see where the changes come. It might be possible to find that and then play with the dithers to find the best look. Also check with Paul Roark as he is the expert with the ink set and may be able to help you.
