Hello! I've been lurking here for a while. Now, of course, I have a question. I recently got an Epson 1280. I've been searching this group and the Web for discussion of the MIS inks. There is a lot out there, some of it obsolete... :-) But I didn't find an up-to-date FAQ. So, I'd like to know what to purchase to start off in hextone B&W printing. I don't want to commit to a continuous inking system yet. Do ready-made cartridges exist for the 1280, or do I have to buy empty cartridges, ink, and chip-deceiving software? And where are good places to get this stuff? I've seen www.inksupply.com. I understand about the false color curves for the quad/hextone inks (in fact, I was one of the people who persuaded the author of Picture Window Pro to support ACV curves). I've tried using Epson black ink alone, which is a little too "dotty," though astonishingly good at first glance. Also, does anyone have settings for the Epson driver so I can use the supplied Epson color inks in the meantime? I've been printing on Epson Heavyweight Matte, and my light grays are purplish.
