Thanks

Subject: [Digital BW] Lith Printing Effect workflow

Hi,
I've been reading a book on BW digital printing and found this workflow to give the digital equivalent of a lith print.

It works well and I've uploaded the image I tried it on, here:

You need to be in RGB for part of the time to use the selective colour tool in order to keep the grain to the darker tones, but after that I proofed both with the Epson Driver in RGB (UC inks) and QTR in Greyscale and both worked.

The only advantage of using the Epson driver was that I was able to desaturate the distance with a gradient a bit, for some aerial perspective. In QTR I also added a gradient and got a sort-of similar effect by lightening the distance a little. But it was nice to selectively desaturate by working and printing in RGB (... not so much that people would notice though, unless they were looking for it). Of course you then have magenta and yellow inks which won't last as well as the pure carbon I used with QTR warm tone.

Anyway if anyone wants me to email the workflow, let me know and I'll email you off list.

thanks,
Richard
