Re: [Digital BW] Photoshop "Less Than" 6.0

2002-02-01 by Carl Noble

Greg,

gotcha, but I still wonder why I've found no firm selling the older versions. The upgrade is $149 on Adobe's site, and new is $609. A "buy now" for 6.0 is $414. So I would expect version 5.5 to be selling somewhere near the "buy now" less $149 less some inconvenience cost.

I heard awhile back that about 50% of the software in use is "stolen" -- not counting the legal (for some products) use on a second computer -- as long as you don't violate the "one user at a time" principle. Any updated info?

Cheers,

Carl

Not only is that called "cheating", it's also called "stealing". Besides,
you need the original version serial number to install the upgrade.
Therefore, whenever you went to the Adobe site, it would think you
were your buddy, etc. etc. You made a good decision by not doing
  that.

Anyone who sells old or used copies of software is "supposed" to
destroy all of their backup copies, completely remove it from their
machine and supply you with the correct original serial number.
They cannot then use that same serial number for an upgrade. (ie:
buy the upgrade then sell you their old version) Anyone selling on
ebay that does not do this is also breaking the rules.
