Russ, I had exactly the same experience. The flashing lights are known as a ³fatal error.² I hope your printer is under warranty. The message that comes up in this condition is that there may be a foreign object blocking travel of the print head; I assume that this is not true in your case. No missing socks, right? There is one other possibility that Epson doesn¹t mention. Check that the ink cartridge cover is firmly snapped in place. If it is not, the head cannot return to its proper position. If you¹ve passed this test, there is only one way forward: call Epson for a replacement. Under warranty, they will immediately ship a new (refurbished?) printer, instructions and all materials for returning, via FedEx, the faulty one. Be aware that they will hold your credit card hostage until they receive the faulty one. I found that process straightforward. Good luck.
