Digital BW, The Print

I get 1.65 to 1.66 with K3 on the 11880 (ABW) and 9600 (QTR and ABW).  
The 3800 isn't as good for some reason. I've also had Hahnemuhle batch  
issues which resulted in a drastic loss of dMax in the past though.

You can increase the black dmax very well with QTR but your paper may  
be sheening down in dMax (ie over-inking.) Epson ink is more prone to  
this than other inks because of the resin in it (I'm assuming. I could  
be wrong here.) See what you get with ABW and compare the results.

The old 9600 Epson drivers with a normal RGB profile Perceptual BPC  
decreases the dMax on HPR with MK ink down to about 1.56 I've noticed.  
Piezotone Museum K ink works better as it can build up to a much  
darker black on Rag papers. The more you add the more it is increased  
in dmax. Portfolio Black gives 1.76 dmax on HPR but would need to be  
sealed with Premier Art.
