Most likely, drips are a result of some schmutz (technical term) on the head
like paper "lint." Ink will accumulate until it drips. Try the paper towel
thing again with a little pure Windex. Also, try moving the head slowly and
carefully over the folded paper towel or, better yet, a lint-free "cloth"
like a PEC pad. IMHO, and someone else "here" who's far more knowledgeable
than I am probably knows why, but sometimes the drip occurs well away from
the nozzle. How the ink gets there, I don't know!
