I read somewhere (either here or the Epson group) that wrapping the
(desktop) printer in a big plastic bag was a good idea, as humidity in
the bag should be more or less constant.  You can also include a bowl
with a wet sponge inside the bag, as long as it does not come in
contact with the printer.  

I've not yet tried this for a long period, but I can't seem that it
would do any harm to the printer, and might work.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
