Hi André, There have been occasional problems with the blended inks (carbon blended with cyan and magenta or blue) like the UT-FSN from settling if the printer has not been used for a while or if a CFS is used and not agitated, from ink color batch differences, and from simply the differences among papers. Getting an inkset to print neutral is always, of course, a compromise because each coating will print somewhat differently. With the UT-FSN, the dark gray inks are more green/less magenta than the light gray inks. So, at least with a QTR, you have some control of the Lab A axis (green-red/magenta) by how you write the curves. For example, to reduce a magenta cast, you can use more of the dark grays and less of the light ones, being limited mostly by when the dots become visible. With an 1160, you should have a fair amount of latitude here. Linearization should not result in blocked shadows and a dark print, however. Be sure system was linearized at the same resolution that its being printed. My first guess as to cause is that youre seeing some settling or ink batch differences. Pigment inks need agitation. I print with this inkset on a 1160. Shouldn't it be neutral? All prints on all papers come with a magenta cast when printed from PS or QImage. Strange enough, when I print from QTR,with a curve I linearized from one of this magenta prints(using printfixpro),it prints neutral, but then the blacks are blocked and the image dark... Any thoughts?
