Digital BW, The Print

I've had a problem that's very similar to the one Mike described.
Essentially, it's exactly the same, except that I've replaced the cartridge
on my CIS.  When I installed the CIS originally (with the original
cartridge), everything worked fine.  This would seem to suggest that I've
somehow connected the new cartridge incorrectly.  It seems okay to me,
though.  At any rate, when I pump the syringe, it seems as if a vacuum is
being formed.  I feel resistence when I pull the plunger out, and I hear air
coming out of the release valve when I push it back in (for the first few
strokes).  It seems as if I'm losing the vacuum during the clamping part of
the proceedure.  What was that about folding before clamping?  Do you mean
that I'm supposed to clamp a double layer of the tube, or that I should kink
the tube somewhere else before I clamp it?  Thanks.
