I have repeatedly tried to fill the carts for my 1270. They will
not fill. To the best of my knowledge I have followed the directions
on the stock solution website. I have tried filling different
chambers, all to no avail. I have been using the clamps that were
sent with the system. Would appreciate any pertinent feedback.
Thanks, Boris

You are trying to use the vacuum method, using the syringe with the flow
regulators (or whatever they are really called) as in the instruction
manual? If so, something is off in your technique. Perhaps you have removed
tape from some of the holes so that a vacuum within the cart can not be
made?

You make mention of stock solutions but provide no link. Please provide more
specifics as to the parts you are using and the techniques you are employing
and someone may be able to help.

Stock Solutions, aka, Inkjetart.com is the co. that I purchased the cis
from. It is the same as nomorecarts system. The tape on the bottom of the
carts is intact. I have not touched it. There are no wholes in the tape.
I have attempted repeatedly to fill the carts by inserting the syringe into
the tube for each of the inks. I have pumped until I can not hear any air
coming out and then I have pumped some more. I then use the clamp that is
provided w/ the system to clamp of the tube. I then insert the tube into
the ink, put on the cap per the instructions and then release the clamp. At
this point the ink should flow right into the tube. It does not. I would
definitely like to get this system to work. I would appreciate feedback
from those who have successfully installed this system. Thanks, Boris

Sounds like you are doing what has worked four times for me. Wish I could

Are you pumping or sucking? Do you feel resistance when you pull or push the
plunger? Can you see the sides of the black cart depress as you suction out
the air? Are you properly clamping the tube by folding it before
lamping? -BK

Re: [Digital BW] nomorecarts cis

2002-02-03 by McKenzie Lamb

I've had a problem that's very similar to the one Mike described.
Essentially, it's exactly the same, except that I've replaced the cartridge
on my CIS. When I installed the CIS originally (with the original
cartridge), everything worked fine. This would seem to suggest that I've
somehow connected the new cartridge incorrectly. It seems okay to me,
though. At any rate, when I pump the syringe, it seems as if a vacuum is
being formed. I feel resistence when I pull the plunger out, and I hear air
coming out of the release valve when I push it back in (for the first few
strokes). It seems as if I'm losing the vacuum during the clamping part of
the proceedure. What was that about folding before clamping? Do you mean
that I'm supposed to clamp a double layer of the tube, or that I should kink
the tube somewhere else before I clamp it? Thanks.

McKenzie

Yes, the tube should be kinked. That is what seals it. The clamp goes over
the kink to keep it kinked while you remove the pump and stick the end of
the tube in the ink.

Thanks for your reply. When I begin the process the plunger is at the top of
the syringe, near the tip, and I pull back on it to begin and then push it
forward. There is resistance when I pull the plunger back. I have not
noticed any movement on the sides of the black cart. I have clamped the tube
according to the directions on the inkjetart.com website. By folding it
over before clamping, are you saying that I should "double it over" and then
clamp? I look forward to your response. Mike

Do you have the new clamps? They go all the way around the
tubing and have a keyhole shapped hole in them. They do NOT
have to be folded over.

The old clamps where more of a clothespin device that you
had to double over the tubing before you put the clamp on.

All I can say is make sure you have clamped the tubing well
before you disconnect it from the plunger and make sure the
end of the tubing is well submerged in the ink before you
remove the clamp.

Fold the tubing just outside the cap so that the tube is pinched shut. Place
the clamp over the pinch so that it stays pinched - it is the pinch, not the
clamp itself, that preserves the vaccuum in the cart. -BK
