I shoot both digital and film; DSLR, 35mm and MF. I have all the "stuff" in place to print good quality B&W for the first time since putting my wet darkroom away many, many years ago. Epson R800 with MIS Eboni inks, QuadRIP, great archive paper, etc, etc. But the more I read, the more "confusered" I become; printer setups, photoshop setups, RIP setups, paper ICC profiles, Macbeth B&W strips, MIS forums, Epson forums. My head is spinning!! Now I am certain that I am not the only "old-schooler" that is going through this angst, but where do I begin to get a grip on this workflow? Does anyone, Epson or some Wizzard, have a travelling workshop that will make this clear enough that I can get started and not have to flounder through it experimentally to the waste of expensive paper, inks and good will? Is there a straight-ahead tutorial site where the information is presented in a comprehensive way and not all fragmented by manufacturer? Any body got some pointers for me? Thanks so much! D.
