Re: [Digital BW] Old Newbie Seeks Guidance

You are going to get loads of conflicting advice...

If you want to rival wet technology than you need good gear at every
link in the chain. The epson is a good entry level scanner for mf, but
forget it for 35mm, also any flatbed will not rival a film scanner. If
you don´t get good input, you can´t then complain that the dynamic
range or the smoothness etc etc of digital doesn´t equal wet etch.
Afterall, how much was your enlarging lens??Any of the ink/software
systems currently touted on this list will give good results:
piezo/mis/MISVM with roark curves - although we all have our
faves!!!!. As to software PS6.

Good luck

Julian
