Cheap ink is a gamble. I think good images deserves the best "treatment". Yes, dye ink fade faster and may look greenish or have a color cast in different type of light. Good images should not be hidden away due to fading, but hang on a wall. I don't know the MIS inks so I can't say anything about them. I use Piezography inks from www.inkjetmall.com in my Epson 1290. That printer is originally made for dye inks, but I have used pigment inks in it for 2-3 years without too much trouble. Some 1290s give more trouble than others (clogging). I don't know how Epson 1200 compare to 1290 in this respect. The newest Piezography pigment ink is much less prone to clogging than the inks I am using right now. It is called Piezography MPS Selenium K7 which work on both matte and glossy paper. (I have not tried them yet.) You could buy the black ink (Shade 1) in bottles and fill it in a refillable cart. I want to store them in the dark so is it ok to use a cheap dye ink or what can i do alternatively with my Epson 1200? You wrote about the Eboni ink.
