Which carbon inks are >available for this printer? I agree with FinnK. Buying the bulk inks is so inexpensive there's no reason not to use a good pigment ink. The Piezo matte black or Eboni from MIS will both do great. I think in a 1200 you can use just about anything - someone else maybe will step in here with more on that...
