Well I thought I would chime in on my own concern about mismatch between paper blue-whites and mat board's warmer tones (even so called bright white boards). When matting an image with a reveal around it and showing the paper base, this mismatch can look bad. Now I know this might sound a bit traditional, but I still am drymounting my trimmed images to the back mat board with a nice reveal showing that board all the way around. 3/8" sides and top and 1/2" bottom for the signature. The mismatch problem is therfore eliminated. The reveal is a nice detail to the finished job. For some reason the drymounting technique has gone out of favor, but it sure looks nice, avoids the paper reveal color problem, and makes that image so wonderfully nice and flat with no "ripple" visible anywhere. I still love this clean look. For those who wonder, I have never had any problems whatsoever in drymounting all sorts of inkjet prints. All the papers and inks seem to do just fine. I also use the Fusion 4000 product which is just the archival glue and not any paper substrate. Just some thoughts on this topic.... http://www.scottjonesphoto.com
