Go by the part numbers. You need to know this anyway. You will want numbers for the Eboni and UT matt so you can be sure which is which. I'm still using the old quadtone black and it's dated but not bad. When I finish that off, I'll be going BO eboni for the 1270. > Hi Gary. When you do finish with the old MIS quad black and go to Eboni it will be a mistake if you just print the cart down and push Eboni into it. The old quad blacks have some dye in them. Eboni will gel in the presence of dyes. That will happen in the heads as well as in the cart. -----------Isss baaad juju ;)------------- You need to clear the old inks out first including remnants left in the heads and on the cap station. Hence the recommendation of cleaning cart first. I believe that, at this point in time, MIS is no longer selling the old types of ink so there will soon be no choice but to do this if you want to preserve your printer. (Note: I have two 1200s and know whereof I speak :) ) Regards Duane
