Take a look at Paul's site for info. His 4:3 H2O/glycerin base mix works very well in the older machines like the 1200 and your 3000 as well. I also have a 3000 and I used a self mixed version of his VM quads for quite a while in both my 1200 and the 3000. There were no particular problems with it. I then went to the UT quads and that is where I learned of the Eboni problem. Although I cleaned the heads and the carts thoroughly, I didn't get the cap station on the 3000 clean enough and it would gunk up constantly. I finally did a good job on it and no problems since. You can rinse out your old 3000 carts with a 10:1 mix of distilled water and clear household ammonia. Just flush them with 20 or 30 ml several times and leave them lay on their side overnight with some in. Then do a final flush with distilled H2O. Regards Duane
