Digital BW, The Print

I don't know what's "wiser" for HP...they design and
price for marketing reasons...I doubt it costs 5X (FIVE TIMES!) to
make a $3500 Z3100 Vs a $700 9180. 

Materials, research, and electronics are not
that much different....the bigger machines must be
hugely profitable by comparison to the smaller (but
far more often sold). 

When Epson upgrades from 2400, HP will add gloss optimizer or
something electronic to 9180 equivalent...no need now, just a matter
of relative cost of advertising...adv dollars are a big part of each
Epson (and Canon), smaller part of each HP (my guess...HP seems little
advertised). IMO if HP wants to sell more machines,
they'll waste more more in advertising. IMO top desktop Epson's aren't
sold on the basis of advertising, more on the basis of buzz and reviews.
