Printer for black and white photos

2008-02-29 by jlsjapan

I've just ordered an Epson R200 from Ebay for $175 which has been
discontinued but is a low price model that will take the MIS black
cartridge set. According to research online this is the cheapest way
to get into semi-professional black and white printing. There are
other companies that offer similar ink sets, but you need to purchase
their software driver instead of using the Epson driver. Of course,
using other ink voids the warranty. Also, the ink sets can only be
used with certain Epson models. So check out the MIS website to get
more information.

After the printer and ink set arrives, I'll know if this is a good
system for printing black and white. Currently I'm using a Canon
Pixma 4200 which is outstanding for color prints in most cases.
However, depending upon the light conditions of the digital image,
there is too much red in the blacks. It does not work well for most
black and white images. The blacks come out with a red or purple
tinge. Hope this was helpful and happy printing.
