Hi Scott:

As soon as I get the neg from Ataraxia I will let you/the group know.
If you want, in the mean time, you can contact them (phone #'s on
their website www.atxstudio.com) and ask for samples of their Carbon
Prints (B/W) and their Collector's Color Carbon Prints. The color
will blow you away. The B/W, while I prefer silver, will give you an
idea of the screening they use for their BW pigment prints. Ask for
Richard March.

I currently don't have a darkroom (still in boxes from our move 10
years ago - long story) so I have to go to a friends place to have
test prints made from the negs.

Agreed, Dale is most helpful. One thing I found very helpful, make
several smaller duplicate images on separate layers so they fit on a
smaller piece of film (8x10 or 11x17), along with full-size 1" sq.
clips from important areas of the image. Also include a step wedge
for each curve you plan to use. Then apply the curves on adjustment
layers, each to a different layer. IMPORTANT: Make sure you label
them! This way you can test several curve combinations at once.

Another option is to go to LVT output. This is a very high-res
continuous tone (not halftone or bitmap) method. It's more expensive
but you end up with a 4x5 or 8x10 T-Max 100 negative (with all you
manipulation incorporated). I have not used this place, but their
prices seem pretty good. They are in NJ:

I'll keep you posted.
