This may be well-known, but from looking around, I don't think it is: just the other day I discovered that I can force my Canon printers (6600D and 9000)to use only black ink by sending them greyscale files (not desaturated RGB) and selecting "transparency" as the paper! It's taking a little curve fiddling, but I can already see that the results on Hahnemuhle pearl rag are coming out much more nicely than what I used to get with my first-generation Piezography + Epson 1160 system a few years ago--very neutral, with a lot of presence--in spite of being with only one ink. It may not be for the faint of heart, but I think once I get it zeroed in I'm going to like the look. --Michael --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, run4alife@... wrote: > > this may sound dumb and as a teacher of social studies I always say there is > no such thing as a dumb question so hear it goes....... > I have been trying to print black and white pictures for a while now. i have > a Canon photo printer but it mixes color even when you want just black and > white. > So i have been lurking here a while and reading that a Epson printer is most > likely the best way to go...so i bought one yesterday a Epson stylus Photo > R280.
