Re: newbie needing guidance

2008-04-16 by Michael Darnton

This may be well-known, but from looking around, I don't think it is:
just the other day I discovered that I can force my Canon printers
(6600D and 9000)to use only black ink by sending them greyscale files
(not desaturated RGB) and selecting "transparency" as the paper!

It's taking a little curve fiddling, but I can already see that the
results on Hahnemuhle pearl rag are coming out much more nicely than
what I used to get with my first-generation Piezography + Epson 1160
system a few years ago--very neutral, with a lot of presence--in spite
of being with only one ink. It may not be for the faint of heart, but
I think once I get it zeroed in I'm going to like the look.
