Digital BW, The Print

I noticed that Epson has 16bit drivers under OSX 10.5. Has anyone used
these drivers for B&W printing (or color for that matter)? Is there
any visible advantage over the 8bit drivers. Just curious. I'm about
to upgrade my computer setup. I've been using Windows but Epson said
there will be no 16bit drivers available. I'm not asking for a Windows
vs. OSX response. I really am asking if there is some compelling
reason for 16bit printing.
