I've found some of this with the 1800 also, but less so. I've speculated that the 1.5 picoliter printers are more sensitive to paper feed accuracy, and that they may be best when both sets of rollers are engaged. I'm doing a series of cards that require a 1/4" top border, and the 1400 cannot do it without microbanding, whereas the old 2200 (with Carbon-6) has no problem at all with the narrow border.
