I've asked MIS about the 1400 carts and their refill kits.

From what I can see, the exit ports are standard OEM Epson.  So, I'm 
guessing the refill kits work -- at least physically.  The problems 
would probably be that the Epson 1400 chip may not be able to be 
reset or replaced, and Eboni in the past has had compatibility issues 
with dyes.

Clearly some sellers are getting 1400 chips.  I have some, but I 
don't know if they are available at retail, and I don't know if they 
will fit on OEM cars.

With respect to the compatibility issue, I think I'd rinse the cart 
with a cleaning fluid or my generic water + glyerol mix, and then a 
couple loads of the replacement ink.
