Paul, have you been able to redirect the drain hose to the outside of the 1400 not to fill up the inside pads? I did that with my 220 and it has worked like a charm for now 2 years. Thanks. Offsetting that is a 1.5 pl drop and a printer that can print smoothly (no microbanding) with only one jet. In some respects this 1400 blows away the old 1800 Currently my "UT14a" has Eboni, Pk, Pkn, Lk, Lkn, and glop in it. This prints with a rather straight curve with no adjustments and Color Controls set at gamma 1.8. With NCA set, the 2 PKs hit about 2.15 on Kirkland glossy. The low ink limits even with NCA require 2 PKs for the Epson driver (not so QTR). I'm probably going to omit sepia, leaving that as a option some could put into the Y position. I think really good glossy, using Glop, may be more important to most people given the baryta coatings, etc. that are coming out. By the way, the Epson 1400 driver appears to include a color management engine of sorts. ICCs can be inserted in the driver, including QTR's RGB ICCs -- though I have not got them working right yet. If we can find the right settings or whatever to get QTR's ICCs to work with the driver, it opens these B&W workflows to non-Adobe applications. (Nice -- also nice that Epson seems to listen.) > Speaking of which, have you heard anything > about the new R1900 orange? I assume it's a new pigment and MIS will have a clone as needed.
