You have to have Windows 98 and be on an LPT port for the software version to work. They also advise turning off printer and resetting computer before using or it will hang- it gave me a GPF- I didn't reset computer first, but I sure had to afterward. The hardware version I use on the T007 and T009 cart (for 1280). With the T009 cart you have to put a plastic shim under the white cube, which makes it harder to line up the contacts- they're not being guided as well. So you have to watch closely that you hit the right spot, although it will still be guided "fairly". There is also no light or feedback of any sort to tell you it was sucessfull. There is another hardware restter available at WeInk which I think is from Lyson(?)which has a light on it. The chip is reset before it is put on the cart and it has a signal light. I have not tried it. http://www.weink.com/inkjet/byengine/epson/esp1290.htm#kce10 The software version you saw is available at MIS and WeInk both. Jim H.
