Personally I've bought a number of refurbs from Epson in the past, both printers and scanners. From my understanding new ones go out the door with a reasonable care and random inspection for quality control but when it's a refurb it's obviously been checked out and repaired or adjusted to spec before being sold again. If anything I would think the level of quality to spec would be much higher for refurbs vs. new ones because of this. Let alone the cheaper price. I did have to return an 1160 a number of years ago and they shipped a replacement out 2-day express with a return label and all I had to do was open it, replace into the box the old one, slap the label on, call the shipper and they picked it up from my front door. Easy as pie. -- Richard S.
