i just bought the MIS CIS system for the 1280 printer that i have (using dye based color inks on that still) .. .. i thought that resetting the chips would be a great hassle .. butit really isn't .. i'm not even using the software to reset the chips .. (since i use windows 2000 and a mac ) the software needs a DOS machine .. .. anyways .. i use the swedish reset method (which requires you to have a new cartridge around (i just boirrowed one from a friend) .. -- the process basically involves tricking the printer into writing onto a spent cartridge fake values for the ink level .. you can treick the 1280 into writing (almost) 100% full onto a spent cartridge's chips .. .. since i saved all my spent cartridges .. i have 2 "FULL" sets of cartridges which i then use to reset the MIS CIS .. .. you get about 40 resets out of each cartridge .. since i use 2 sets .. thats about 40 * 40 resets .. = 1600 resets.. probably more than enough .. .. since my digital darkroom is a budget operation .. i think its a good compromise .. .. i wish that MIS sold empty CIS for the 1280/1270 .. since i want to use it for my quadtone 1270 .. -- ricardo ----- Original Message ----- From: "Todd Flashner" <tflash@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, February 08, 2002 5:58 PM Subject: Re: [Digital BW] CIS pricing? > > > > Looking around at CIS systems and their price. > > > > Can anyone justify why a 1270/80 CIS unit would be valued at twice > > the amount of an 1160 unit.
