I think it would be difficult to achieve infinity focus, at least for the
wide angles, as the design of the M lenses is optimised for the rangefinder
which allows a closer focussing distance than would be typical in an SLR
with its mirror box.

Is there a way to mount Leica M lenses on a Canon DSLR. I know that
Steve Gandy sells adapters for R lenses, but I did not think the M
lenses could me used on a DSLR. I would love to use my Leica lenses
  on my 40D.

I'd also be interested in Leica M and SL adapters to a Nikon mount, if any
  such device exists.
