The paper thickness check off is in the "Print" menu, third box down, and next to the last choice. On my R1800, I also added a piece of plastic angle, 1/2x1/2x3 1/2 long to the feed tray, between the guide tap, and the base, on the right side. This keeps the paper from twisting during loading.
